Aesthetic-Usability Effect Paves Way for Great UX

Image
There is a famous saying, 'Don't judge a book by its cover.' However, most of the time, it goes otherwise. Reasons are simple: visibility and beauty matters for everyday objects, and books are no exception to it. The same can be applied to UX design. Good looks, attractiveness, and beauty collectively create an aesthetic appeal for a product. In the field of UX design, aesthetic and usability work together and complement each other. Aesthetic Appeal Portrays Positive Vibes about the Product According to the basic cognitive psychology, users get influenced by the visual attractiveness of a product’s interface, even before they could explore its core functions and actual use. In Don Norman’s book ‘Emotional Design’, he explores the aesthetic factor in depth and puts up that it is applied to everyday life for whatever products we come across or use. The aesthetic-usability effect in any product works in tandem, as people assume that more-aesthetic designs ar

Human Factors in Interaction Design

Human factors aim to help humans to do their work the best while maintaining the overall system performance and improve tenacity. The ultimate goal of the Human Factors is to minimizing system errors and optimizing efficiency. Human errors are common occurrences in the workplace. Mistakes will be made and you can't always prevent it from happening. But Human Factors will make sure of its minimum impact. Humans are at the center of any product or service so it needs to be human-centered. Human Factors contribute towards this Human-centered products extensively. The human factors field is highly adaptable to different situations as purposes and interaction keep changing depending on the situation and workplace. In simple word, human factors are nothing but study of the interaction between the user and the product they're using and using this studied data to create safer and effective interactions. Human Factors as discipline came into existence during WW2

UX Design for Emerging Technologies

Image
In our everyday lives, we often witness people feeling not very clever while understanding a new technology or while handling various technological devices. This is especially true when it comes to the latest technological advances that take place. People find it difficult to grasp how the new technologies work as they are not habituated to it yet in their everyday lives. This happens because typically people working on developing these technological advances have been working on it for a considerable amount of time to perfect it. Thus due to this perception gap technological advancements come across as technological marvels to people. They are hesitant to use it because of the perceived notion that it will be — ‘complicated to use’ than what they routinely use. They also are cautious about trusting these new technologies right away. The marvels of our age are plentiful. Computers, the internet, and mobile devices have primarily have served to quicken the advances in the way

Dream Weavers of UX Design

Image
Dream Phase in Design It is said a Dream is a wish your heart makes! A beautiful dream is a place where seemingly impossible things happen and you go with the flow happily enjoying the experience in your mind space. Some people prefer to stay in this ‘dream’ phase and try to escape reality. While some people wake up and get working to transform their dreams to reality. UX Designers fall in the latter category.  Does one need to ‘learn’ how to dream??  Well…YES!! At least in UX Design world, we need to learn how to dream with our eyes & ears open. And as any experience we have with dreams, the dream phase is one of the delightful phases in the whole design process. This phase is all about exchanging divergent thinking and sharing out of the box experiences regarding the subject at hand. We need to have a collective dream to bring it to reality. It is a participatory process where one person has to take on the role of an ‘Interview Moderator’ and orchestrate the whole process
